Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary
Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary having an area of 134sq km around the lake at Satbahini or seven hills is apopular excursion from the city of Nagpur.Nagzira is also a heaven for the birds.
Navegaon National Park
Navegaon National Park is located in the Navegaon area of Maharashtra, at a distance of approximately 150 km from Nagpur. It is one of the most popular forest reveres of the Vidarbha region of the state and was established in the 18th century.
Pench National Park
On Ramtek- Jabalpur NH7, along the Pench river flowing down from north to south and encompassing lands of both Maharashtra and Madhyapradesh is Pench Tiger Reserve. The Pench is heaven for bird-lovers.
Pench National Park lies nestled in the lower southern reaches of the Satpura hills, on the southern boundary of Madhya Pradesh. Earlier a wildlife sanctuary, Pench was given the status of a tiger reserve in the year 1992, when it was included under the umbrella of "Project Tiger".
Ramtek, about 42 kms to the northeast of the Nagpur city is a significant place for the tourists. Known for lush green hillocks, lovely lakes and ancient temples, it is believed that on the way back from Lanka, Rama-Lakshmana and Sita stayed here.
Sevagram Ashram adjacent to the Wardha town, is about 75 kms away from Nagpur city. On invitation from Jamunalal Bajaj, Gandhiji left Sabarmati and came here. Mahatma lived here for 15 years. Since then , the ashram became the nerve-centre of Indian politics.
Tadoba National Park
Tadoba National Park is 85 km from the city of Nagpur.Occupying an area of 116. 45 sq km, the National Park is surrounded by calmness and sylvan surroundings sheded by teak and bamboo trees. The important members of this park are Tigers, Panthers, Bisons, Sloth Bears, Hyenas, Jackals, Wild Dogs, Barking Deer, etc. Important trees namely shirish, mahua, palash and other deciduous trees are found in abundance.
